Hand Made Windchimes

Australian, hand made precision tuned wind chimes

Aluminium tube – long lasting, lightweight and rust free, our pipes are either powder coated or anodised for surface colour and protection. Both powder coating and anodising facilities have strict environmental controls in Australia.

Timber – we use at present three timbers for our chimes components.

  1. Rose gum – a plantation hardwood native to our region, solar kiln dried, durable, colour pink to dark red.
  2. Camphor laurel – introduced species from China. Due to its invasive nature replacing native vegetation, logging is considered an environmental necessity. Can have spectacular colour and grain. Medium density.
  3. Plantation pine – light colour and easily worked, ideal for the striker component of chimes.

Concerto topDepending on market conditions we may use timbers other than the above. We never use timber sourced from clear fell logging of old growth forest.

Timber finishing – from June 2005 all our timber components will be finished with a non toxic blend of vegetable oils predominantly based on tung oil. These oils from the plant kingdom are totally replenishable, being harvested seasonally.

Stringing – in the medium and large chimes, the long lasting, moisture resistant nylon cord is protected by pipe grommets to prevent wear. The small chimes use a combination of tough fishing line and nylon cord.

Wind Chimes Guarantee

Our chimes are guaranteed for 2 years to be free of defect in material or workmanship under normal usage conditions (see below), effective from date of purchase.

Normal usage conditions

Your chime is best placed indoors or in a semi protected position such as a covered deck or verandah. The timber components of your chime have been nourished and sealed with a natural, non-toxic tung oil formula. In order to preserve the appearance and protection of these timbers we advise re-oiling two or three times a year with similar oil.

If exposed to direct sunlight the colour of the timber components of your chime may change. These colour changes are natural and cannot be considered a defect.
